Hi All
Greetings! I would appreciate it greatly if you could please circulate

PhD Scholarship in Differential Geometry
A PhD scholarship is available (with a 2014 start date) to work in the
group of Rod Gover, Department of Mathematics, University of Auckland
to work on an aspect of the following project:
***********
Project: New directions at the geometry-analysis frontier
Non-technical summary:
Geometric structures are intimately linked to natural (or geometric)
PDEs and their analysis; these are the partial differential equations
determined by geometric structure. New insights connected to Cartan
geometries will be used to develop theory for treating geometries,
PDEs, and their interactions, using uniform principles. This approach
will be brought together with other tools, such as variational theory,
to solve problems on the geometry-analysis border.
The project is motivated by problems in geometric analysis, representation
theory, and mathematical physics, and results are to be applied to
these problems.
Principal Investigator: Rod Gover
Associate investigators: Andreas Cap (University of Vienna),
Michael Eastwood, (Australia National University), and
Andrew Waldron (UCDavis)
Funding is via NZ Marsden Fund, Project 13-UOA-018.
***********
The PhD project would suit a very strong student with a background in
one or more of the following areas: differential geometry, analysis,
mathematical physics, mathematical general relativity, complex
analysis, Lie representation theory.
Amount: NZ$25,000 stipendium per annum plus fees, for 3 years.
To apply, email your contact details, CV, academic transcript, and a
brief statement about your research interests and experience, to
Rod Gover. Email: r.gover @ auckland.ac.nz
Please include also the names and contact details of two academic
referees.
Application deadline: 1st April 2014
