Title: Recent advances in modular representation theory
of the symmetric groups

Abstract:
Recently, it became known that representation theory of Hecke
algebras and Lie theory are intimately related via categorification. A typical
example is the case when we take the symmetric group algebra as our
Hecke algebra.
I will give a survey of this connection in this case developed by
Ariki, Brundan, Kleshchev, Grojnowski, Rouquier and many others.
