Dear Takeshi,
   I am very sorry to have to let you know that Professor Nomizu passed
away this evening
at 7:15PM.  I heard only this morning that he was gravely ill, so I am
both shocked that he was
that sick and that he died so soon.  The funeral is private, but the
family is planning a memorial
service on November 15th.
    Professor Nomizu was a great man who played a crucial role in my life
- I am very sad that
he is no longer with us.
    Abe and I are concerned that there are people in Japan who will want
to know about Professor
Nomizu's death and would appreciate any help you can lend in letting them
know.
