Dear all,

I would like to announce the following Mathematics and String theory seminar at Kavli IPMU:

Speaker: Brent Pym (U of Edinburgh)
Date:	Tue, Oct 03, 2017, 13:15 - 14:45
Place:	Kavli IPMU, Seminar Room A

Title: Multiple zeta values in deformation quantization

Abstract: In 1997, Kontsevich gave a universal formula for the
quantization of Poisson brackets. It takes the form of a perturbative
expansion in a certain two-dimensional field theory, and as such, its
coefficients are given by high-dimensional period integrals. The
difficulty of these integrals is a substantial barrier to explicit
calculations with the formula. I will describe forthcoming joint work
with Banks and Panzer, in which we give an algorithm for the exact
evaluation of these integrals in terms of special transcendental
constants---the multiple zeta values---building on Francis Brown's study
of the periods of the moduli space of genus zero curves.
